About the Artist

Art Equals Survival

Thrust into a torturous abyss, only to emerge a beautiful butterfly. Arrachme’s life story is a focused juxtaposition of unrelenting pain and positive inspiration. Her powerful spirit was placed in a fragile body that would be filled with unanswered questions for decades. Her internal physiological uniqueness confused medicine until science caught up. She would endure over twenty-two varied surgeries. Arrachme says the most spirit-crushing thing was when stumped by her differences, other’s response would be, “It must be emotional.”

Refusing to be defeated, her journey began. At age five, she consciously decided to switch from right-handed dominance to left. She supposed that intuitively, it activated more of the creative right- hemisphere of her brain. It is no surprise that at an early age, art became her focus. Painting became her happy go-to place. She would begin a journey to crystallize her individuality. She studied and experimented, learning to find peace from within. This peaceful core had helped her find patience. She realized that even in perceived chaos, something good would always result. Her art was the river of gold, a liberating catalyst. She stopped trying to explain the constant painful symptoms that she experienced. Expressing herself with visual language eliminated the need for too many misunderstood words. Her truth was in beautiful paintings. They became her faithful friends.

Doors began to open one after another. When international calls would come to exhibit art, she would accept the events that entertained her passion, which was an environmental and humanitarian focus. Her differences became her strengths.  During twenty-two subsequent surgeries, she would calm the stress that accompanied these circumstances by creating art, traveling to her exhibitions, teaching, and delivering speaking engagements. She gives credence to spending years buying fine art for her celebrity clients and collectors as the proprietor of her design firm. It caused her to grow exponentially, as a fine artist.

She says, “I just paint what naturally comes to me. In my studies, I came across the meditation method that Leonardo Da Vinci is said to have used. Learning this confirmed that I was on the right path with my daily meditation and my painting process. It is a place where time disappears. Notably, this is when the best artwork is created.  I have no physical memory of this place, only ensuing happiness, and restfulness. I am not saying that the paintings are accidental. Quite the opposite. The developed methods and techniques have been studied so thoroughly that the processes are a natural, organic part of me.”

Arrachme’s visual voice, influenced by colorful, beautiful, lush surroundings, would go on to be recognized worldwide. Museums, galleries, collectors, and research medical foundations would find her art appealing. Success ensued. She shared that a majority of her original paintings found their new homes soon after completion. The new Cancer Center in Verona New York just purchased her art this year. Another recent acknowledgment was when the Suny University of Medicine built its newest NAPPI building in Syracuse New York, they purchased several large paintings.  The design and content had to fit with their future. Arrachme knew that the grand opening of NAPPI would be important, but she had no idea that the speakers would be celebrities, such as the Governor of New York, Dr. King, and Carol Nappi. The building director said he was impressed with her art. It evoked a positive visceral reaction that emerges from one’s essence. Arrachme says,” During the creation process, I experience the same peaceful settling energy as views of my art experience. I think the unique combination of my story and my artistic, found freedom is what makes each piece special. Life required courage to be honest with myself and bravery to move forward.  Most importantly, I had to find a place where “difference” is not denied rather, it is celebrated.  The paintings possess a gentle healing aspect that places me and my artwork in the world of medical environments. People who are drawn to my paintings can feel the art in their core.  They always exhibit unique qualities of their own.  I find they, too, have a positive story to share.”

Arrachme has been exhibited in France, South Korea, Iran, Turkey, the UK, the USA, Portugal Belgium, India, the Netherlands, Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, Portugal, Iran, Egypt, and Art Basel USA. Her traditional visual arts education and experience span forty years and then took an unusual positive turn. Her art is as unique as her history, from teaching with a master painter and sculptor, a philosopher from the Caucasus Mountains to a client who held the title of the most powerful man in the world. In her early career, Arrachme studied and practiced as a professional interior designer, A.S.I.D., I.D.S., used her skills, successfully brokering art for her celebrity clients. Born in the USA, Arrachme currently resides in Central Florida. The harmonics of Arrachme, an ancient Sanskrit name bring the speaker to a joyful peaceful place.

Artist’s Statement

First and foremost, I paint for myself. It is enjoyable to stand before a large painting and listen to what others experience.  It is always very different than mine. here are two distinct artists within me. There is the teacher who experiments to develop exciting new lesson plans for my students and there is the professional career “me”, who has a solid direct minimalist focus.  The teacher wants to give back and support the joy of creating with others. The professional artist is a loner. I prefer to paint in silence. The professional artist does not live in the past or the future because she knows that only the present moment is real.
